Camlin Studio

Rolling out

Studio makes a talking Camlin head from your photos or a short video. The head lands on the canvas. You say go before a fit is spent, and you confirm before a library offer. Studio is available to try; it is not a finished-product promise.

You do not pick Studio from a menu. Sign in, attach a capture, and ask. If Studio is on for you, Create offers it. If it is not, everything else in Create still works.

What it is

Camlin Studio turns photos or a short video of a real person into a talking Camlin head. The head is a 3D piece on the canvas, in the same creation as the rest of your work. It is not a full-body capture and it is not a new voice.

How you start it in Create

“Make an avatar of me from these photos.”

Open Create and sign in — captures are signed-in only. Attach the zip or video with the ⊕ button under the chat, then ask. You can also say “fit a talking head from this video.” Create offers Studio when the capture is there; you do not have to name the plugin.

The ⊕ menu can show what Studio remembers from this creation: a capture that already passed, the last fit, a photo-versus-avatar sheet. Tap a chip to put that piece back on the canvas.

What to provide

  • A zip of 12–120 photos, JPEG or PNG: face on, left, right, a little up and a little down. Neutral face first, even light, no heavy crop that cuts off the chin or hairline.
  • Or a short video — MP4, QuickTime or WebM — of the same angles. One clip is enough if the face is clearly in frame.
  • Up to 100 MB for that capture. Everyday picture attachments stay on the usual smaller cap; a Studio capture is the larger zip or video.
  • Your own face, with consent. Do not attach someone else’s photos and ask Studio to fit them.

Step by step

  1. Sign in (or create a free account) and open Create.
  2. Attach the zip or video with ⊕, then ask for a talking head of you.
  3. Create checks the capture first. You will see a coverage note — which angles it found, and what is missing. If it needs a reshoot, fix the light or the angles and attach again.
  4. Create then measures the face and tells you what it saw. That is the honest pause: say go only when you are happy to spend a fit.
  5. Fitting takes a few minutes. Progress stays on the turn. When it finishes, the head is on the canvas in 3D — orbit, tilt, zoom. It has not replaced any other piece in the creation.
  6. Optional next asks: a photo-versus-avatar comparison (attach one still, not the zip), a check of blink and jaw, a small change to one region (jaw, nose, eyes, mouth, mid-face, or the gap under the nose), a style pass (hair colour, stubble, a tee), or more photos of the same person for a new skin on the same head. Attach a second zip of face coverage (sides, stubble, ears) — do not add files to the first pack, and do not include iris close-ups in that zip. The head shape stays; a new skin lands on the canvas until you keep it.
  7. To offer the head to the library, use Publish to library on the avatar card. That waits on a confirm; a person reviews it before anyone else can pick it.

What you can ask

  • “Check this capture before we fit.”
  • “Go ahead and fit the head.”
  • “Put my photo beside the avatar.” (attach one still)
  • “Check blink and jaw.”
  • “Shorten the gap under the nose.” / “Make the nose narrower without shortening it.”
  • “Darken the hair a little.” / “Add a bit of stubble.” / “Put it in a tee.”
  • “I have a new set of photos of the same person — update the skin, not the shape.”
  • “Build the head file so I can download it.”

Confirm before it lasts

A fit is spent when you say go after the measure. The head then lands on the canvas; it does not silently replace another piece.

Offering the head to the library is never silent. The card asks: publish this head to the avatar library? Operators review it before anyone else can pick it. Confirm or Cancel. Cancel leaves the head on your canvas only.

Rolling out

Studio is rolling out. It is available to try on accounts that have it, not a promise that every step is finished. Some people will see that Studio is invite-only for now; sign in with an invited account, or ask us to switch it on. Everything else in Create still works either way.

Limits — what not to expect

Not live yet: a voice of your own, cloning a voice from a recording, glasses or eye colour, a full-body capture, age, iris close-ups on a frozen head, and listing the head as ready for everyone. Create still speaks with the usual Camlin voices until a voice of your own lands. A style ask for glasses is declined honestly rather than faked. Extra photos of the same person are a new zip on this head, not more files stuffed into the first capture — mixing them and fitting again rebuilds the person.

If something fails

  • Not signed in — attach is refused for a Studio capture. Sign in and try again.
  • Capture too dark, too few frames, or missing left/right — Create says it needs a reshoot. It will not pretend a fit from a bad capture.
  • Studio not on for you — Create says it is invite-only, or simply does not offer the fit. Games, pages and Connect assistants are unchanged.
  • You cancel a library offer — the head stays on your canvas; nobody else can pick it.
