Camlin Companion
Read-only previewCamlin Companion is digital staff for your website. From Create you can now ask about it — which sites you have, how a crawl is going, what the Companion still needs to know, whether a phone receptionist is linked, and the snippet that puts it on your site. This is a read-only preview: Create reads, and adding or changing a site stays in Camlin Architect for now.
You do not pick it from a menu. Ask about your Companion — your sites, a crawl, the install snippet — and Create offers it. It reads the Companion in your own Camlin Connect workspace: the same sites Architect → Companion shows. It is being switched on for workspaces first; if Create does not offer it, it is not on for you yet, and everything else in Create still works.
What it is
Camlin Companion is a digital staff member on your own website: an avatar that knows the site’s pages, answers visitors and can take phone calls. You set one up in Camlin Architect under Companion. Create can now read it from the same conversation you make everything else in.
Who can use it
Companion sites belong to a Camlin Connect workspace, so you need to be a member of one — an owner, admin or editor. A Create account on its own is not enough. If you are not in a workspace, Create tells you so in plain words and reads nothing. Ask your workspace owner to add you in Architect (Profile → Organization), then ask again.
Create always reads your own workspace. It never reads another workspace’s sites, and there is nothing to choose.
What you can ask
- “What Companion sites do we have?” — each site, when its pages were last read and how many, any crawl running now, and how many sites your workspace allows.
- “How is the crawl going on example.com.au?” — the crawl running now, the last few crawls and their page counts, or why one stopped. You can name the site by its address.
- “What is the Companion still missing for our site?” — its information items, such as opening hours, a transfer number or a lead email, and whether the crawl found each one, a person filled it in, or it is still missing.
- “Is a phone receptionist linked to our site?” — yes, with its number, or not yet.
- “Give me the install snippet.” — the exact snippet Architect shows, to paste before the closing </body> tag, and the web addresses it is allowed to run on.
What it will not do yet
This is a read-only preview. Create will not add a site, start a re-crawl, change a site’s name, persona or greeting, fill in a missing item, set up phone reception, change a plan or delete a site. Those stay in Architect → Companion for now. When adding and changing sites come to Create, each change will wait on a confirm bar first.
Create does not quote prices. Companion is digital staff; plans are in Architect.
If something fails
- Not signed in — Create asks you to sign in. Nothing is read.
- Create says you need to be in a workspace — your Create account is not a member of a Camlin Connect workspace. Ask the workspace owner to add you, then ask again.
- Your role is view-only — Companion in Create needs an editor or above in that workspace for now.
- Create cannot find the site — ask “what Companion sites do we have?” and use one of those names or addresses.
- No crawled knowledge yet — that site’s pages have not been read. Start a crawl in Architect → Companion, then ask again.
- Create did not offer Companion — it is being switched on for workspaces first. Everything else in Create still works.
